Garnett Suspended For Game 2

No Emmy Awards will be handed out for game 2 of the Heat-Celtics series, only suspensions.
Kevin Garnett, dubbed the “actress” by Quentin Richardson, will miss Game 2 after being suspended by the NBA for throwing an elbow in a sideline skirmish during Game 1.
Garnett was handed a double technical and ejected with 40 seconds remaining in the game. He landed an elbow to the face of Richardson while standing over an injured Paul Pierce. Richardson was fined $25,000 for his role.
During a postgame press conference, Richardson went on to call both Garnett and Pierce ”actresses.”
Anyone who watches the NBA would be hard-pressed to argue. Pierce is always flailing around or lying on the court as if he had just been shot( or maybe stabbed…again). Who can forget that wonderful acting job from the 2008 Finals(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVx9w4ajxqs)?
As for Garnett, I almost forgot he was still in the league until this incident. He spends more time screw-facing, talking trash, or slapping away shots after the whistle than actually playing. I miss the days when Garnett was relevant for his play, and not his antics.

It was widely known across the NBA that Micheal Beasley had issues coming into the league.
Beasley just got the memo.
The Miami Heat forward admitted himself into a Houston rehabilitation facility last week and is being treated for various issues, including depression, a person briefed on the situation told The Associated Press on Monday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because of privacy concerns, and could not say whether the other issues included drug or alcohol treatment.
“Based on what I’m getting right now, there’s a bit of concern,” Bruce Shingler, Beasley’s manager, told The AP in a telephone interview. “I don’t really know what’s going on. I just know his mom is on her way to go see him in Houston. That’s it. I’m still collecting a lot of information.”
It’s unknown how long Beasley will remain at the facility, or whether he will be available when the Heat open training camp on Sept. 28.
Information from The Associated Press and ESPN.com NBA writer Chris Sheridan was used in this report.

NEW YORK (AP) – New York Knicks player Nate Robinson was arrested Tuesday for driving without a license. And fans who follow him on Twitter got a play-by-play.
“Cops pulled me over cuz my windows were 2 dark (but my windows were down) lol how funny is that,” Robinson tweeted after being pulled over according to the New York Post.
His next post: “Iam still pulled over and its been 35 min they have me sit in my truck like I dnt have s#*+2 do lol.”
Both posts were deleted soon after.
Police said Robinson was arrested after officers pulled him over in the Bronx at about 5:30 p.m. and discovered he had a suspended license.
The Knicks guard was taken to the 52nd Precinct and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and issued a summons to return to court at a later date, police said.
A Knicks spokesman said they were aware of the situation and would discuss it with Robinson directly.
Robinson is a restricted free agent, meaning the Knicks can match any offer he receives from another team. The club has said it hopes to keep the popular guard at the right price.
Robinson was in New York to work at a basketball camp. In a series of postings on his Twitter page late Tuesday night, he apologized to the Knicks, his family and his fans, and thanked the police.
The NBA’s slam dunk champion explained that he believed he was being pulled over for tinted windows but learned it was because he had an unpaid ticket that led to the suspended license. He added the matter would be cleared up.

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama will appear in a back-to-school television special with singer Kelly Clarkson and basketball star LeBron James next month.Obama is appearing in a 30-minute documentary that will air at 8 p.m. Sept. 8 on BET, MTV, VH1, CMT, Comedy Central, Spike TV and Nickelodeon, all of them Viacom networks.
In the program, the president says education is the key to people living out their dreams.
“So as this new school year begins, I urge you to set goals for your own education: to study hard and get involved in your school, to try new things and find something you’re passionate about,” Obama says, according to a release issued Wednesday.
“And that’s how our nation will get ahead – by ensuring that every American gets a world-class education, from preschool to college to a career,” Obama said.
The program marks the kickoff of an education initiative by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Viacom Inc. Called “Get Schooled,” the five-year campaign is aimed at improving this country’s dismal high school and college completion rates.
In the special, Obama, Clarkson and James all are shown alongside behind-the-scenes colleagues; Obama’s is speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz, who talks about her time in school and current job at the White House. Also featured are Clarkson’s music director, Jason Halbert, and James’ marketer, Latesha Williams.
Gates official Allan Golston, president of the foundation’s U.S. Program, noted Obama has made education a top priority and that schools got unprecedented money from the economic stimulus law earlier this year.
“Education is the key to opportunity and economic progress, for our young people and our nation,” Golston said.
